¨      Be ready to act on a moment’s notice.

Upon a Flash Flood WARNING:

¨      Follow the instructions provided by the emergency personnel of your building.

¨      If advised to evacuate, do so immediately.

¨      Move to the higher ground areas instructed by the emergency personnel of your building.

¨      Stay away from the flood water by all means.

¨       Do not try to pass an aqueous stream if the water level is above ankles.

If You are Outdoors:

¨      Move to higher ground area and stay there.

¨      Avoid walking through any floodwaters. If moving swiftly, even water 6 inches deep can sweep you off your feet.

If You are in a Car:

¨      If coming up to a flooded area, turn around and go another way.

¨      If the car stalls, abandon it immediately and climb to higher ground. Many deaths have resulted from attempts to move stalled vehicles.
